Restoration to The John A. Hartford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing

Grant Summary

In 1996, the Foundation awarded a grant to New York University to create the John A. Hartford Institute for the Advancement of Geriatric Nursing Practice. The award, made in recognition of the critical role which nurses play in older adults, has proven successful in the areas of nursing education, practice, research, and policy. In addition, the Institute has forged strategic collaborations and partnerships with a number of national organizations to further its geriatric agenda. This award provides funds to support faculty in advancing gerontological content in baccalaureate and advanced practice nursing curricula. Electronic dissemination of materials and existing data will be utilized via Web-based seminars and on-line resources. In response to requests from nursing faculty, a certificate to recognize particular competency in gerontological nursing education will be developed.
