Understanding Health IT-Enabled Performance Improvement for Older Adults

Grant Summary

Under the leadership of Ashish Jha, MD, a Harvard-based researcher and health policy expert, this project will fill a current gap in knowledge about how best to deploy electronic health records (EHRs) and other health information technology (HIT) to improve safety, quality, and cost in the care of older adults. Through a study of provider organizations using quantitative and qualitative methods, the project will develop a careful description of best practices in the domain to inform the field as well as to direct the Hartford Foundation’s future grantmaking. Project findings and recommendations will enable provider organizations to optimize the use of HIT to improve care delivery for older adults and other vulnerable populations.
