Philanthropy News Digest (PND) has published an article, "John A. Hartford Foundation Awards $9 Million to Improve Senior Health."

"The grants will help expand access to palliative care, enable community-based organizations to partner with health systems and plans, reframe society's views of aging, and spread age-friendly best care practices through leadership development and a learning network of hospitals.

The awards include nearly $3.5 million over three years to the University of Washington in support of the Building Public Engagement and Access to Palliative and End-of-Life Care project, in which seven partners are working to increase knowledge of and access to high-quality palliative care, and $600,000 over three years to the Gerontological Society of America for its Reframing Aging initiative, which works to counter negative widely held beliefs about aging that act as barriers to improved care."
