ACS Announces Recognized Leader in Geriatric Surgery Program
The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and The Leapfrog Group are collaborating to launch a new way to recognize hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality surgical care for older adults.
Hospitals can become eligible for the Recognized Leader in Geriatric Surgery designation by meeting established program requirements from both organizations. These include participating in the ACS Geriatric Surgery Verification (GSV) Program and earning a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade of A or B. The program will help improve outcomes for older patients and expand public visibility of recognized hospitals.
Interested organizations, especially those already participating in either GSV or Leapfrog programs, are invited to fill out a form on the ACS website to learn more. Recognitions will be awarded starting in 2027.
