Aging in America News Article: Age-Friendly States Build Age-Friendly Ecosystems

Drawing on recent research examining age-friendly state plans and multisector plans for aging (MPAs), the article highlights the role states can play in turning local age-friendly efforts into lasting systems change. It explores how states can build the infrastructure to sustain this work, including through financing, policy, governance, accountability and partnerships.
“State MPAs can provide a helpful structure to support age-friendly ecosystems,” says JAHF Senior Program Officer Scott Bane. “These plans bring together relevant state agencies and their constituencies across health care, public health, housing, transportation and other sectors to plan proactively for their aging populations.”
