American Academy of Family Physicians Course: Foundations of Age-Friendly Care–4Ms for Physicians
The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has launched a free CME course on "Foundations of Age-Friendly Care–4Ms for Physicians."
This online course prepares physicians to adopt age-friendly practices by building awareness, foundational knowledge and motivation to implement the Age-Friendly Health Systems (AFHS) 4Ms Framework—What Matters, Medication, Mentation and Mobility—in clinical care.
Participants will gain a clear understanding of the AFHS initiative, the clinical relevance of the 4Ms Framework and practical strategies for addressing common barriers to implementation. Course enrollees can access the on-demand materials through March 2029 and earn up to 1.25 CME credits.
The American Family Physician Journal has published a related article, "The Age-Friendly Geriatric Assessment," by Carrie Rubenstein, Laura Blinkhorn and Barry D. Weiss, on how family physicians can conduct a comprehensive geriatric assessment using the 4Ms to guide patient-centered care for older adults.
