ASA Generations Now: New York Just Committed to a Master Plan for Aging
The American Society on Aging's (ASA) Generations Now platform has published a blog, "New York Just Committed to a Master Plan for Aging," as part of a series.
ASA is partnering with West Health, The SCAN Foundation and JAHF on a series of posts, virtual and On Aging programming to foster Multisector Plans for Aging (MPA) across the country. This blog, written by Nora OBrien-Suric, PhD, president of the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York; and Bob Blancato, coordinator of the NYS MPA Coalition, talks about NYS's commitment to a multisector, comprehensive roadmap for aging.
The blog lays out NYS's executive order, the momentum for the state's MPA and steps so far, including the NYS Coalition of aging experts' February report that laid out recommendations for the making the plan a success. It details subsequent working groups and community initiatives being led by the state and notes that the final NYS MPA report, which will lay the path forward for the plan’s implementation, is due to be released January 2025.
The first blog was "Join the Movement: Every State Should Have a Multisector Plan for Aging."
The second blog was "Supporting Local Multisector Plans for Aging in Rural Communities."
