The Better Care Playbook has released a blog post, "GUIDE-ing Efforts to Support Comprehensive Dementia Care Programs," highlighting the Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model, a framework for enhanced dementia care.

In 2023, dementia affected almost 7 million Americans, and this number is projected to double by 2060. Resources to support people with dementia and their families and comprehensive care programs are rarely offered. Rani E. Snyder, MPA, JAHF, Gary Epstein-Lubow, MD, EDC/National Dementia Care Collaborative (NDCC) and Kiran Raja, JAHF, discuss the eight core elements of comprehensive dementia care and how the GUIDE model is working toward increased access to these programs.

The GUIDE model introduces alternative payment methodology, providing per-beneficiary payments to support collaborative, team-based care. NDCC is driving the adoption of comprehensive care programs using the GUIDE model, promoting access to high-quality dementia care.
