LGBT older adults, fearful of being discriminated against, do not access aging services at the same rate as their heterosexual and non-transgender peers. And when they do, they often do not disclose their sexual orientation and/or transgender status to their providers, all of which leads to incomplete care and health disparities. SAGE, through its National Resource Center on LGBT Aging, has developed a national training effort to enhance providers’ cultural competence in working with LGBT populations and to disseminate information to consumers.
