GIA Webinar Recording: Using Technology to Combat Social Isolation
Grantmakers in Aging (GIA) held a Conversations with GIA webinar on July 30, "Using Technology to Combat Social Isolation."
While the use of technology to address social isolation among older adults is not new, the COVID-19 pandemic has spurred great innovation and momentum in the field, and, with the increased demand for telehealth, several changes have been made to telemedicine policy, coverage, and implementation to make it more widely accessible.
The webinar talked about the current state of digital health and heard from two organizations who are using technology to combat social isolation. Panelists included:
- Tom Kamber, Executive Director, Older Adults Technology Services
- Alesia Frerichs, Vice President Member Engagement, Lutheran Services in America
- René Quashie, Vice President, Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Digital Health, Consumer Technology Association
