Health Affairs Webinar Recording: Rural Health Transformation and Age‑Friendly Care
Health Affairs hosted a virtual event on June 8 on "Rural Health Transformation and Age‑Friendly Care." The event video is now available.
The Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) provides a total of $50 billion over five years for state programs to improve care in rural communities. As rural communities tend to have higher concentrations of older adults, RHTP has the potential to positively impact health and health care for older populations.
The one-hour conversation highlighted how the program is taking shape, how some states are planning to use the federal funding to strengthen care and systems for older adults, and what to expect next from the rollout. The speakers were:
- Kate Sapra, deputy director of CMS's Office of Rural Health Transformation, where she helps lead implementation of the RHTP
- Dr. Carrie Jeffries, director of the West Virginia Rural Health Transformation Program
- Katherine Ornstein (moderator), professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and director of the Center for Equity in Aging
The event was produced as part of Health Affairs' Age-Friendly Health series, supported by JAHF.
