HANYS Webinar Recording: New York State Age-Friendly Action Community Recruitment Webconference
HANYS, the Healthcare Association of New York State, held a webinar on August 11, "New York State Age-Friendly Action Community Recruitment Webconference," as part of its launch of an Age-Friendly Health Care Systems New York State (NYS) Action Community this fall.
The NYS Action Community, with support from Department of Health (DOH) and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement IHI), will engage teams from hospitals and health systems to work together for about seven months to test and adopt IHI’s 4Ms framework of age-friendly care to improve care and outcomes for all older adults.
This work is especially important now, given the experience of older adults and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic. The NYS Action Community will draw on lessons learned during the pandemic and will work with teams to identify opportunities to improve care for older adults in the event of a potential COVID-19 resurgence.
This recruitment webinar provided an overview of the Action Community and the benefits of participation. Presenters included:
- Donald M. Berwick, MD, MPP, president emeritus and senior fellow, Institute for Healthcare Improvement
- Ronette Wiley, RN, BSN, MHSA, CPPS, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Bassett Medical Center
- Samantha Belden, director of nursing quality, Bassett Medical Center
- Loretta Willis, vice president, quality advocacy, research and innovation, and post-acute and continuing care, HANYS
As detailed on HANYS website, there will be two NYS Action Community cohorts: the Upstate Cohort, launching in November 2020, followed by the Downstate Cohort in February 2021. August 11 is the upstate recruitment event and all providers from all regions are invited to join.
