Health Affairs Forefront Publishes Three Age-Friendly Health Articles in June
Health Affairs Forefront has published three articles in June as part of its Age-Friendly Health series. One article is on private equity investment in assisted living and two articles - by members of the Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition - are on nursing home quality improvement and on the CMS nursing home survey process.
The Age-Friendly Health series aims to inform health policies and covers new issues related to building more equitable, high-quality health systems for older adults.
Modernizing The CMS Nursing Home Survey Process: Risk-Based Surveys And Beyond by Alex D. Federman, Isaac O. Longobardi, Heidi W. Steinecker, April Diaz, David G. Stevenson, Kathy Bradley
The authors - who are all members of the Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition Committee on Designing a Targeted Nursing Home Recertification Survey - have identified four ways to increase efficiency without sacrificing survey quality.
It’s Time For HUD To Act On Nursing Home Quality Improvement by Marc A. Cohen, David C. Grabowski, Isaac O. Longobardi, Alice Bonner, Richard Gamache, Charles P. Sabatino
The authors - who are all members of the Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition - note that many stakeholders in the nursing home sector have overlooked the potential for HUD to play a role in nursing home quality improvement and long-term care transformation. That needs to change, and the sooner the better.
Private Equity Investment In Assisted Living: Distinct Impacts And Policy Considerations by Kali S. Thomas, John R. Bowblis, Paula Carder, Cassandra Hua, Sean Shenghsiu Huang, Yashaswini Singh, Lindsey Smith, Momotazur Rahman
The authors say that to ensure private equity (PE) can benefit investors and society at large, the first and best policy goal should be to encourage alignment of incentives among PE owners, operators, and various stakeholders.
