Innovation in Aging: Call for Papers

GSA papers

The Gerontological Society of America's Innovation in Aging has announced a call for papers for its upcoming special issue, "Translational Research on the Future of U.S. Nursing Home Care."

The journal is looking for innovative research that has implications for the ongoing role and structure of the nursing home sector in the United States. Manuscripts should be empirically based but may make projections for a possible future vision for the industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed long-standing problems with nursing home care in the United States, presenting an opportunity for systemic change. Ideally, transformation will be grounded in a reexamination of economic, policy, and clinical aspects of nursing home care. Topics for which evidence may support re-visioning of the nursing home sector include, but are not limited to:

  • Innovations for improving quality of care and quality of life
  • Workforce innovations
  • Reforms for financing of long-stay residential nursing home care
  • Innovations in post-acute care
  • Innovations in delivering clinical care

Abstracts describing the paper’s intent should be submitted electronically via the ScholarOne website by May 20.
