JAMA Network Open Paper: Patient-Centered Priorities for Older Adults in Ambulatory Care
JAMA Network Open has published a research letter titled "Patient-Centered Priorities for Older Adults in Ambulatory Care," and a related invited commentary, "What Matters About What Matters Most."
The research letter focuses on a study aimed to describe what matters most to older adults in walk-in ambulatory care clinics, with the purpose of detailing the top priorities to help improve the implementation of the Age-Friendly Health Systems' 4Ms Framework in convenient care settings. Over 388,000 patients were asked the open-ended question “What matters most to you?”
This study was conducted with support from JAHF and MinuteClinic, LLC, part of the CVS Health family of companies. An article by CVS Health talks about its commitment to supporting the growing population of older adults by shaping a future for health care that meets their unique needs, from innovative patient and caregiver outreach to accessible preventive care visits.
The invited commentary by Mary E. Tinetti and Brenda S. Nettles, "What Matters About What Matters Most," reflects on the study’s implications for person-centered care.
