JAMDA Paper: Stakeholder Perspectives on Development of a Home-Based Primary Care Practice Recognition Program
The Journal of the American Medical Directors Association (JAMDA) has published a paper, "Stakeholder Perspectives on Development of a Home-Based Primary Care Practice Recognition Program."
The paper describes a study aimed to assess stakeholder views on the potential benefits and challenges of implementing a practice recognition program for home-based primary care (HBPC), a model that improves patient outcomes but remains relatively invisible to key stakeholders and has not scaled. HBPC delivers longitudinal interdisciplinary primary care to functionally impaired patients in their homes, in contrast to traditional clinic settings.
The findings of the study suggest that key stakeholders in HBPC view the development of an HBPC practice recognition program positively, but with caveats. The authors note that development of an HBPC practice recognition process should incorporate ongoing stakeholder input.
