JGEM Article: COVID-19 in Older Adults - An Update for Emergency Providers

The Journal of Geriatric Emergency Medicine (JGEM) has published an article, "COVID-19 in Older Adults: An Update for Emergency Providers."

The Emergency Department is the transition zone between community and health care resources during this historic COVID-19 pandemic. Older adults have been particularly vulnerable during this pandemic. Systems-based practices can help to coordinate care during this critical time.

This article examines several patient scenarios of older adults affected by COVID 19 and speaks on the clinical presentation of COVID 19 in older adults, diagnostic methods, and treatment options. The article also explores the implications of COVID 19 and older adults with social vulnerabilities, comorbidities, dementia, and several other factors.
