Roundtable Convening: Comprehensive Dementia Care Models and Payment Reform
The John A. Hartford Foundation, in partnership with the Education Development Center, hosted a roundtable convening on October 24th in Washington, DC, to address practical questions important to payers interested in funding comprehensive dementia care models.
The convening question topics included beneficiary eligibility, model participants and workforce training, methods of caregiver support and education, and payment. This invitation-only convening included national leaders and experts in dementia care, as well as key federal agencies like the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI).
Objectives of the convening:
- Review the evidence on quality, costs, and outcomes of scalable payment models for comprehensive dementia care
- Discuss practical questions that payers must answer to provide coverage of comprehensive dementia-care models
- Make recommendations for how payers should address these practical questions
