Final Recruitment: The AHRQ ECHO National Nursing Home COVID-19 Action Network
The AHRQ ECHO National Nursing Home COVID-19 Action Network final recruitment is through January 31, 2021. The network is a virtual learning community of practice supported by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and Project ECHO.
The Network helps nursing homes across the country with COVID-19 preparedness, safety, and infection control. The no-cost virtual training sessions are led by expert teams at state and regional training centers (often academic medical centers and health systems).
8,500 nursing homes have already joined the AHRQ ECHO National Nursing Home COVID-19 Action Network. The Network employs a 16-session curriculum rooted in case-based learning, peer-to-peer sharing, and mentoring with national and local experts, and is a no-cost COVID-19 community of practice for nursing home staff and administrators. The Network is covering topics including:
- Infection control practices
- Vaccine distribution
- Testing and case management
- Use of personal protective equipment
- Managing social isolation
Final recruitment is through January 31, 2021.
Read a guest column in McKnight’s Long-Term Care News from leaders at AHCA and LeadingAge about the initiative. This work builds on the COVID-19 Rapid Response Network for Nursing Homes and national nursing home huddles supported by a JAHF grant to IHI.
