The Gerontologist: Call for Papers
The Gerontological Society of America's The Gerontologist has announced a call for papers for its upcoming special collection, Gerontology in a Time of Pandemic, and for its upcoming special issue, Age-Friendly Environments.
The COVID-19 pandemic has myriad implications related to aging and the lives of older people. How can gerontological scholars productively respond to the pandemic in ways that avoid a negative framing of aging, while addressing the unique ways in which the pandemic will be experienced by older adults? This question motivates the editorial team to invite papers for a special collection. The manuscript submission deadline is August 1, 2020.
Environmental gerontology has addressed many characteristics of communities that might pertain to age-friendliness such as facilitators of aging in place, walkability and transportation, health consequences of environmental exposure, and social features of the environment such as neighborhood cohesion. For its upcoming special issue, The Gerontologist is looking for papers that wrestle with these complexities to advance our understanding of how to promote age-friendly environments across a variety of human ecosystems. The manuscript submission deadline is September 15, 2020.
