The Playbook Blog: The PACE Response to COVID-19 Calls for Policy Actions Increasing Access and Affordability

The Better Care Playbook has released a blog, "The PACE Response to COVID-19 Calls for Policy Actions Increasing Access and Affordability."

As of October 2020, 135 Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) organizations across 31 states have implemented PACE — a comprehensive care model integrating Medicare and Medicaid coverage under a capitated payment structure. Today, PACE programs are rethinking their care model in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Adhering to the program’s founding principle of keeping older adults at home, PACE organizations are deploying care team members — from primary care physicians to social workers — formerly based at PACE centers into homes.

This blog post highlights PACE programs’ efforts to redesign care during the COVID-19 pandemic and presents policy options that may help expand access to PACE in the future.
