Tradeoffs podcast series has released a new podcast, "Home Sweet Hospital" about hospital-at-home programs.
This podcast series explores the U.S. health care system and delves into the pros, cons, and consequences of potential solutions. This episode focuses on hospital-at-home programs. Experts have long believed that the home is a safer, better and cheaper place to treat patients for certain conditions that typically require hospitalization, but hospital-at-home programs have been slow to grow in the U.S. With the pandemic putting new pressure on the capacity and finances of hospitals, this decades-old model is receiving a surge in new interest.
