Grantmakers in Aging (GIA) and the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) are holding a webinar April 22, "Engaging Communities in Faith-Based Models of Care."
Faith leaders and clergy play a complex and significant role in their communities, offering comfort, guidance and leadership to congregants, and connecting people to valuable health-related resources and information. Throughout the pandemic, faith leaders have helped people to navigate a myriad of spiritual, emotional, and logistical challenges.
The emergence of COVID-19 has underscored the nation’s failure to adequately address the social factors that influence health within the African-American community, which is consistently over-represented in the prevalence and mortality data associated with COVID-19 illness. Across the country, African-American faith leaders are leading local efforts to support their congregants and communities, including many who are at high risk of infection, but are understandably skeptical of the healthcare system. Join GIA and C-TAC to learn about successful faith-based models of care in different parts of the country and how you can support faith groups in your community.
