TFAH Age-Friendly Public Health Systems Webinar: Using Data to Address Social Determinants of Health

AFPHS SDOH

Trust for America's Health (TFAH) is holding a webinar on July 21, “July AFPHS Training – Using Data to Address Social Determinants of Health," as part of their monthly training series.

The social determinants of health (SDOH) are factors beyond traditional healthcare that significantly impact health. This is true throughout the life course, including for older people. Factors such as adequate access to appropriate housing, nutritious food, and affordable transportation can significantly improve or detract from health. For the remainder of 2022, the AFPHS training series will focus on the SDOH.

Data systems that include information on the health of older adults are crucial to developing programs and services that meet their health and social needs. Organizations and agencies can use this information to target resources, identify community partners, support grant applications, and develop strategies to address health disparities and social needs in their communities. The July training will focus on the importance of data in addressing social determinants of health among older adults. This session will also highlight how some states have developed and used data on older adults to advance healthy aging in their communities.
