The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) and the National Palliative Care Research Center (NPCRC) have released report, "America's Care of Serious Illness: A State-by-State Report Card on Access to Palliative Care in Our Nation's Hospitals."

The state-by-state report card provides an analysis of whether patients living with a serious illness in the United States are receiving equitable access to palliative care services in hospitals. It includes key findings, state grades, and recommendations.

This report is an update of the 2015 edition. As in the prior reports, it describes the prevalence and locations of hospital palliative care programs across the fifty states and the District of Columbia using data from the American Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Survey Database™, the National Palliative Care Registry™, and CAPC’s Mapping Community Palliative Care initiative.
