SupportCaregiving.org: Website Provides Strategies to Support Family Caregivers
The National Academy for State Health Policy's (NASHP) website, SupportCaregiving.org, offers resource guides that different sectors can use to support the dissemination and implementation of the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers. Its newest addition is the Caregivers Communications and Marketing Toolkit.
The National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers was released in 2022 by the Administration for Community Living and details hundreds of actions that federal, state and local governments, as well as businesses and communities, can take to better support family caregivers.
The new Caregivers Communications and Marketing Toolkit, developed with NASHP's 13-state Caregiving State Policy Learning Collaborative, is a free, fully customizable suite of resources to help states, local agencies and nonprofits better reach family caregivers. The toolkit includes ready-to-use templates, sample messaging, social media content, press materials, designed flyers, posters and more, all created to increase awareness and connect caregivers to services.
Other resource guides on SupportCaregiving.org provide concrete actions to help specific groups support caregivers, including:
- Family Caregivers
- Area Agencies on Aging and Title VI Programs

- Health Care Teams

- Managed Care Plans
Resources for State Officials:

In addition, the Administration for Community Living Caregiver Strategy and Resources guide includes First Principles; Federal Actions, Actions for States, Communities, and Others; the 2024 Federal Progress Report; and Progress Trackers by Federal Agency, among other resources.
The site also features a short, animated video that provides an overview of the National Strategy and what people can do to support caregivers.
SupportCaregiving.org was created by NASHP in collaboration with ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center, Eldercare Workforce Alliance, Generation Cares, Grantmakers in Aging, Long-Term Quality Alliance, National Alliance for Caregiving, National MLTSS Health Plan Association, PHI, SHRM and USAging, with support from The John A. Hartford Foundation.
NASHP also has a quarterly newsletter on Family Caregiving that offers an in-depth round-up of state family caregiving initiatives and resources, including the latest resource guides from SupportCaregiving.org, new publications from the RAISE Act Family Caregiver Implementation and Technical Assistance Center, and highlights from states on their latest activities.
