AARP and the Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative (GEDC) Videos: Brain Health in the ER
AARP has teamed up with the Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative (GEDC) to publish two new videos designed to educate and raise awareness about the serious issues of dementia and delirium in healthcare settings, particularly emergency rooms.
The short educational videos provide action steps for providers, patients and family caregivers to better identify and manage issues related to brain health in the emergency room. By implementing relatively straightforward and cost-effective measures outlined in the videos, people’s brain health can be protected and their medical outcomes can be improved. The videos are:
- Dementia in the ED: Providing Better Care for Older ED Patients
- Delirium in the Emergency Department: Serious, costly, and potentially deadly
