Ageism Awareness Day Webinar: Leading Change in Aging - Expanding Age Advocacy with ASA RISE
VCU Gerontology and the Virginia Center on Aging are hosting a webinar for Ageism Awareness Day, October 9, on "Leading Change in Aging: Expanding Age Advocacy with ASA RISE."
With support from the RRF Foundation for Aging, VCU Gerontology and the Old School Hub developed the Expanding Age Advocacy Guide to Action to help build an age equity movement that represents us all. During the webinar, new research from the guide will be highlighted along with a key program-based solution: the American Society on Aging (ASA) RISE fellowship program.
ASA RISE works to develop a network of leaders of color in the field of aging, equipping them with the tools and networks to advance in their careers and transform the sector to reflect the diversity of an aging America.
The webinar will feature Patrice Dickerson, ASA’s Senior Equity Strategy Director, and ASA RISE Alumni Ashley Staton and Christina Peoples (who is also an Expanding Age Advocacy researcher), alongside gerontologist Catherine MacDonald.
Ageism Awareness Day is an opportunity to draw attention to the existence and impact of ageism in our society.
