AHA Advancing Health Podcast: Improving Older Adult Care in the Geriatric Emergency Department
The American Hospital Association's (AHA) Advancing Health podcast has released an episode on "Improving Older Adult Care in the Geriatric Emergency Department."
As the nation's population of older adults increases, systems of emergency medicine aren't designed to meet the specific and complex needs of older adults. Medical support frameworks for older adults remain inadequate. Marie Cleary-Fishman, AHA’s vice president of clinical quality, is joined by Dr. Kevin Biese to discuss older adult care in the ED and what be done in the field to better adapt to an aging population. Dr. Biese serves as the University of North Carolina Hospitals Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, as well as its Co-Director of the Division of Geriatric Emergency Medicine.
