The American Hospital Association (AHA) has published an interview with Diane E. Meier, MD, FACP, FAAHPM, Director of the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC), on "Achieving High-Value, Goal-Concordant Care for Patients with Serious Illness."

Dr. Meier talked with Tom Priselac of Cedars-Sinai about how hospitals and health systems can improve communication for patients and families living with a serious illness by building goal-concordant care and providing physicians and other clinicians tools to work with this population.

AHA is partnering with CAPC and asking hospital and health system leaders to reexamine their approach to palliative care, identify patients needing additional support and build a care plan centered on the whole patient, both clinical and emotional needs.
