American College of Rheumatology Releases CARE: Geriatrics Program
The American College of Rheumatology recently released the CARE: Geriatrics Program, a new online self-assessment tool designed to assess the knowledge base of physicians regarding geriatric rheumatology. CARE: Geriatrics will fulfill the need to improve geriatrics-related education for rheumatologists as they care daily for an aging population.
The CARE: Geriatrics Program is a new online self-assessment tool designed to assess the knowledge base of physicians regarding geriatrics rhematology. Rheumatologic conditions frequently occur in older populations yet, despite the overlap between rheumatology and geriatrics, there is limited formal training in geriatrics during rheumatology fellowship.
CARE (Continuing Assessment, Review, and Evaluation) is a series of online self-assessment tools designed to assess the rheumatology knowledge base of physicians. All CARE questions have been placed through an extensive review and validation process to ensure clinical relevance.
The program is the result of a grant from the John A. Hartford Foundation's legacy Medicine portfolio to the Association of Specialty Professors (ASP), the Association of Professors of Medicine, and the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine to continue increasing competence in the care of older adults among physicians in the specialties of internal medicine.
