American College of Surgeons: Geriatric Surgery Patient Checklist
The American College of Surgeons (ACS) has released a Geriatric Surgery Patient Checklist to help older adults prepare for surgery.
The Patient Checklist was created to encourage open communication with the patient's surgical care team. It helps keep track of questions so the user can be sure to get them answered before surgery.
The checklist also ensures that the care team understands the patient's goals and how to best support them to achieve the best possible outcome. The checklist improves surgical care and outcomes for older adults.
