CMWF Publication: Palliative Care - A Vital Component of COVID-19 Care
The Commonwealth Fund (CMWF) has released a feature publication, “Palliative Care: A Vital Component of COVID-19 Care.”
During the pandemic, palliative care has proven to be an essential part of our health care system’s response. The publication explores multiple case studies on how palliative care providers responded to the surge. It also includes case studies on community-based palliative care programs and discusses the lessons learned for policy and practice.
In addition, the publication covers what the pandemic will look like moving forward and quotes JAHF Senior Program Officer Amy Berman, RN, LHD, FAAN, “When you think about the 2.5 million people who die in this country per year, many of them have a known serious illness and many more live with chronic disease and would benefit from palliative care. It really helps people live the best possible life in the worst possible situation.”
