Article: This Caregiving Crisis is Costing your Company
Fast Company has published an article, "This Caregiving Crisis is Costing your Company," about working people who are also caregivers of adults 65 and over.
"Roughly 41.3 million people in the U.S. age 15 and over provide unpaid eldercare to a family member age 65 or older, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics." The article talks about challenges that employed caregivers face.
"Flexibility is essential for caregivers, says Rani Snyder, caregiver specialist at The John A. Hartford Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of older adults. And some situations are more demanding than others. For example, nearly 70% of Alzheimer’s and dementia patient caregivers need to modify their work schedules."
The article explores the need to take care of caregivers and discusses some benefits that are available to employees.
