ASA Future-Proof Chat Sessions: The Case for Racial Equity in Aging in the COVID-19 Era

The American Society of America (ASA) has introduced a new conversation series, “Future-Proof Chat Sessions: COVID-19 Solutions." The live conversation May 21 is on, "The Case for Racial Equity in Aging in the COVID-19 Era."

Jean Accius, PhD, Senior Vice President, Global Thought Leadership, AARP and Robert Espinoza, Vice President of Policy, PHI, will outline how COVID-19 has impacted the work of both AARP and PHI and how the organizations have evolved to address it. They will describe lessons learned and share critical solutions they’ve devised. They will address how and why black and Latino people are being hospitalized and dying at a greater rate from the COVID-19 virus, and will lay out some of the racial equity solutions in aging that are essential to the national response to the virus.

Future-Proof is a series of conference calls hosted by Peter Kaldes, ASA president and CEO, with leaders in the field to share their strategies to cope with the challenges brought about by COVID-19. Participants will discuss what practices they have put in place that may be transferable to other service providers across the country, and will offer practical tips and unexpected issues they successfully confronted along the way.
