The American Society on Aging's (ASA) Generations Now has published an article by JAHF Vice President, Communications and Senior Program Officer, Marcus Escobedo, MPA, and JAHF Health and Aging Intern, Teffin Benedict, MHA Candidate, on "Our Pledge to Support Diverse Talent in the Field of Aging."

In pursuit of better care for diverse older adults, The John A. Hartford Foundation has joined Archstone Foundation and RRF Foundation in Aging in supporting ASA and its ASA Rise program, preparing a new generation of diverse leaders trained in the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.

"ASA Rise serves as a launching pad for the next generation of diverse leaders in the aging field," the article notes, and explains the critical need for "a field that better represents an increasingly diverse and older population in America." The authors then introduce current JAHF initiatives to promote diversity internally through staff-led development and externally through our grantmaking.

Applications for the the ASA RISE Fellowship are open until June 5th, 2022.
