ASA Generations Now Article: MPAs in Action- Incorporating Behavioral Health in Oklahoma
The American Society on Aging (ASA) has published a new article in Generations Now, "MPAs in Action: Incorporating Behavioral Health in Oklahoma."
As of December 2024, two-thirds of US states are in the process of creating or executing Multisector Plans for Aging (MPAs). These collaborative plans unite various stakeholders and state agencies to coordinate efforts aimed at promoting healthy aging. By developing these plans, states can better prepare for the specific challenges and needs of their populations, including mental health concerns.
This article provides an in-depth summary of an interview with Karen Orsi, director of the Oklahoma Mental Health and Aging Coalition, where she addresses key aspects of Oklahoma's MPA, "Aging Our Way Oklahoma," and how it ensures that mental health for older adults remains a priority in the state.
