ASA Preconference Summit: Multisector Plan for Aging National Symposium
The American Society on Aging (ASA) is holding a pre-conference half-day summit, on March 27, "Multisector Plan for Aging National Symposium."
As states' populations become older and more diverse, a state-led, cross-sector planning effort like a Multisector Plan for Aging (MPA) can help redesign state systems to ensure healthcare, services and supports are affordable, equitable and meet the needs of their populations over the next decade. While every state’s MPA will look different, leaders across the nation can learn from one another to develop strategies that will work in their states.
In this session, leaders from three states that are participating in an MPA Learning Collaborative will describe where they are in their development process as well as their unique strategies for MPA development, including cross sector planning and broad consumer and stakeholder engagement, using data, messaging and more. The Symposium objectives are:
- Articulate how a MPA can benefit all populations and state agencies, not just those specifically focused on aging.
- Identify data in their state that can be used to make the case for the need for a MPA.
- Identify the most important decision-makers and stakeholders in their state who can help build momentum for an Executive Order or legislation for an MPA.
Participation by state staff and stakeholders, older adults, people with disabilities, family caregivers, and funders is highly valued in the Symposium. The Symposium is sponsored by West Health, The SCAN Foundation and JAHF.
