Article: Communication Skills in the Age of COVID-19

Comms on Covid 19

The Annals of Internal Medicine has published an article, “Communication Skills in the Age of COVID-19.”

Communication between clinicians and their patients has become increasingly important in the age of COVID-19. The coronavirus pandemic has brought many health systems up to and past their medical capacity. In turn, many clinicians are pressed for time and resources thus making communicating with patients more difficult. The article provides recommendations and resources aimed to help clinicians communicate effectively while caring for patients with serious illness.

One source for communications tools is VitalTalk, which has created a crowd-sourced primer designed to provide practical advice on how to talk about difficult topics related to COVID-19.
