ASA Blog: The Reality of Family Caregiving in Diverse Communities - Findings from a National Study
The American Society on Aging has published a blog by the Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC), “The Reality of Family Caregiving in Diverse Communities: Findings from a National Study.”
The blog discusses the findings of a comprehensive caregiving survey developed by the DEC in partnership with the Benjamin Rose Institute. The nationwide survey garnered 940 complete responses, of which 789 respondents self-identified as one of the five racial/ethnic groups or being LGBT. The blog states, “This is noteworthy because it is one of the first examples of caregiving research where multiple diverse groups were compared at the same time. Survey analysis has begun to reveal the magnitude of different issues affecting diverse family caregivers.”
Analysis will continue throughout 2020. DEC will be sharing more findings at this year’s Aging in America Conference in Atlanta, GA.
