The Center to Advance Palliative Care (C-TAC) is holding a webinar on May 20, "Exploring the Intersection of Spirituality and Medicine in Serious Illness Care During COVID-19."

Meeting the complex needs of those facing serious illness requires multiple disciplines to work together to provide compassionate care. With it’s focus on understanding people and their values, Advance Care Planning provides an opportunity for medical and spiritual care professionals to work together to better serve patients facing serious illness and their important people. As we live through a time of increased stress and uncertainty amid the continued spread of COVID-19, it is now more important than ever for these needs to be addressed. This dialogue will help Spiritual leaders and Medical professionals understand each others’ roles and how they affect the lives of those they serve.

This webinar will feature expert voices from faith communities and the medical profession discussing how the two fields can collaborate to provide high-quality, person-centered serious illness care. Speakers include:

  • Elder Angela Overton, Senior Advisor to the Interfaith and Diversity Workgroup, C-TAC
  • Curtiss Paul DeYoung, Ed.D., CEO, Minnesota Council of Churches
  • Erik K. Fromme, MD, MCR, FAAHPM, Senior Scientist, Ariadne Labs and Palliative Care Physician, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
