The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) has released a set of training courses on pain management.

In the units, participants are introduced to concepts on how to improve quality of life and patient satisfaction through safe and appropriate pain management. Topics include which patients are appropriate to consider for opioid therapy, how to assess risk for substance use disorder, and how to safely prescribe, monitor, and document opioid therapy in alignment with the Federation of State Medical Boards prescribing guidelines. Completion of all 14 courses will result in CAPC Designation status in pain management. CAPC members can earn free continuing education credits and MOC credits.

CAPC has also released an interactive escape room game to help participants better understand the risks of overmedication and how to mitigate them by using a deprescribing framework. It is recommended to first complete CAPC's Reducing Risks for Older Adults training course to get the most out of the escape room game.
