CAPC Report: State-Level Palliative Care Access and Recommendations

CAPC Report: America's Care of Serious Illness - State-Level Reports

The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) and the National Palliative Care Research Center (NPCRC) have released new state-level reports as part of their 2019, "America's Care of Serious Illness: A State-by-State Report Card on Access to Palliative Care in Our Nation's Hospitals."

As more state-level champions and health officials explore opportunities to expand palliative care access, data on the current palliative care landscape can help prioritize efforts. The state-level reports on palliative care in each state detail information about palliative care access, along with recommendations to improve it.

Each report includes state-specific information on:

  • The availability of hospital palliative care and comparisons to national and regional access
  • Community palliative care
  • The number of certified palliative care clinicians
  • Ways to advance palliative care access and quality in the areas of workforce, payment, clinician skill building, and public awareness, and resources to help you get started
