CDC Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Public Health Centers of Excellence Recipients
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced the recipients of the Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Public Health Centers of Excellence (PHCOE) awards.
Funded recipients for the PHCOE to Address Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias fulfill activities described in the Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act PL115-406. Each center focuses on one topic-specific area:
- Dementia risk reduction: Alzheimer’s Association
- Early detection of dementia: NYU School of Medicine
- Dementia caregiving: University of Minnesota
Recipients focus on identifying, translating and disseminating promising research findings and evidence-informed best practices that address social determinants of health and use a nationwide systematic public health uptake by state, local, tribal, and other public health programs. Centers will collaborate with CDC, national partners and state, local, and tribal health entities to ensure maximum effect and reach.
PHCOEs support the nationwide implementation of the 25 actions in the Healthy Brain Initiative’s State and Local Public Health Partnerships to Address Dementia: The 2018–2023 Road Map.
