CHCS Webinar: Identifying and Reaching Family Caregivers - Innovative State Strategies

CHCS

The Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) is holding a webinar on October 6, "Identifying and Reaching Family Caregivers: Innovative State Strategies."

Many state Medicaid agencies and Departments of Aging are actively seeking ways to better support the roughly 41 million people in the U.S. who serve as caregivers for an older adult. However, state agencies are often challenged to accurately identify the number, diversity, and unique needs of family caregivers, and to do so in a way that is culturally attuned and supportive.

This webinar will highlight innovative state strategies to identify and reach more family caregivers. Three states participating in the CHCS’ Helping States Support Families Caring for an Aging America initiative — Iowa, New York, and Texas — will describe their efforts in helping more caregivers access supports and services. Speakers include:

  • Courtney Roman, MA, Senior Program Office, CHCS (moderator)
  • Rani Snyder, MPA, Vice President, Program, The John A. Hartford Foundation
  • Tim Niyonsenga, LMSW, Program Office, Michigan Health Endowment Fund
  • Kristie Wiltgen, LBSW, Regional Director, Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging
  • Deana Prest, Aging Services Program Analyst, New York State Office for the Aging
  • Holly Riley, Aging Services Coordination Director, Texas Health and Human Services

State agencies, health systems, health plans, community-based organizations, and other interested stakeholders are invited to join.
