CMS Releases Specifications and Attestation Guide for the Age-Friendly Hospital Measure

CMS Resources on Age Friendly Hospital Measure Aug 2025

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released guidance on web-based data collection for hospitals participating in the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program, including on the Age-Friendly Hospital Measure.

The CMS Age-Friendly Hospital Measure assesses hospitals' commitment to improving care for patients 65 years or older receiving services in the hospital, emergency room or operating room. CMS released two resources with detailed information on how to meet and report on the five domains of this measure:

The Attestation Guide offers practical examples and targeted guidance to help hospitals respond to items in the measure. It includes detailed support for each of the five domains and a glossary of key terms. It also highlights relevant tools and programs, including comprehensive hospital-wide resources and targeted tools for specific departments.
