Diverse Elders Coalition Training: Caring For Those Who Care - Meeting the Needs of African American and Black Caregivers
The Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC) is hosting a free training on February 16, "Caring for Those Who Care: Meeting the Needs of African American and Black Caregivers," in collaboration with the National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, Inc.
This DEI-centered training session is to help healthcare providers, aging professionals and social service providers better serve African American and Black family caregivers. Attendees will learn about the experiences, cultural values, and caregiving realities of unpaid African American and Black family caregivers. The trainers are:
- Keisha Lewis (she/her), Health Program Liaison, National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, Inc.
- Nina Darby (she/her), Training Manager, Diverse Elders Coalition
This training is an extension of DEC's comprehensive training curriculum, Caring for Those Who Care, which aims to help bolster culturally informed aging services for racially and ethnically diverse groups. The curriculum series, featuring collaborative efforts from DEC's six member organizations, was created with support from JAHF.
