The Eldercare Workforce Alliance, funded by the John A. Hartford Foundation and The Atlantic Philanthropies, comprises 29 organizations—representing consumers, professionals, paraprofessionals, and the healthcare industry—that are concerned with the workforce needed to deliver quality care for older adults. The EWA was formed in response to the 2008 Institute of Medicine report Retooling for an Aging America: Building the Health Care Workforce, and has established a solid track record using a variety of advocacy techniques to insert geriatric care workforce issues into ongoing regulatory and possible future legislative policy making.
