FCA Webinar: COVID-19 and Caring for Individuals With Alzheimer's
Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA) held a webinar on April 23, "COVID-19 and Caring for Individuals With Alzheimer's."
The COVID-19 emergency has disrupted caregiving for those taking care of someone with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia. Lessons have already been learned on how best to support people with dementia and their caregivers. The webinar covered strategies to improve communication, manage behavior symptoms, and better manage daily life for yourself and the person with dementia you care for.
The webinar was divided into three 15 minute sections. Each section covered the topic in English, then Cantonese, and finally Spanish. Questions and answers in English followed the Spanish presentation, at approximately 6:45pm ET.
Presenters included:
- Stefanie Bonigut, LCSW, Family Services Manager, Alzheimer's Association;
- Lauren Hibdon, Family Care Specialist, Alzheimer's Association;
- Arthur Chan, LGBTQ Project Manager and Family Care Specialist, Alzheimer’s Association;
- Liliana Kaszuba, Community Relations Manager and Dementia Care Specialist, Alzheimer’s Association
The FCA webinar series is co-sponsored by the San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS).
