Fortune Well: These 4M’s Are The Key to Successful Aging, Expert Reveals

Fortune Well Terry Fulmer Article

Fortune Well has published an article, "The 4M’s are the Key to Successful Aging, Expert Reveals," featuring JAHF's president Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN.

The article highlights the shift in demographics in the U.S., where adults 65 and older are expected to double to 80 million by 2040, driving the need for family caregivers and increasing concerns about the health span-life span gap (the difference between how long someone lives and how long someone lives in good health).

The author explains strategies that promote healthy, independent aging, talks about how Dr. Fulmer introduced the Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative 4Ms framework (what Matters, Medications, Mobility and Mind) and goes into detail on each of the 4Ms. "Fulmer hopes the framework will highlight that it’s never too late to play a more active role in aging."

Author Alexa Mikhail is a former Gerontological Society of America (GSA) Journalist in Aging fellow.
